Peyronie’s Disease is a condition that causes penile curvature, indentation and loss of length upon erection. XIAFLEX® is a nonsurgical treatment during which the physician injects medication to weaken and break down the plaque that is causing an erect penis to curve.
Treatment of Peyronie’s disease depends on the degree of penile curvature, severity of penile shortening and/or narrowing and the presence of erectile dysfunction.

How it Works
The curvature of the penis associated with Peyronie’s disease is caused by a buildup of scar tissue which feels like a bump under the skin of your penis.
- During your first in-office visit, your urologist will inject XIAFLEX into the scar tissue.
- A second injection will take place during your second visit, about 1-3 days later.
- Several days later a member of the urology care team will perform in-office exercises to stretch and straighten your penis.
- For the next six weeks you will spend a few minutes each day doing these same stretching and straightening exercises at home.
Once this first treatment cycle is complete, your urologist will determine if more treatment cycles are needed. Depending on the severity of your curvature, up to four cycles may be necessary. Treatment cycles are scheduled six weeks apart.
What to Expect
You may experience some side effects following each treatment, including swelling, bruising, and pain near the injection site.
You must avoid sexual activity:
- Between the first and second injections of a treatment cycle
- For at least four weeks after the second injection of each treatment cycle
- Until pain and swelling have gone away
